Falling in love with your home again

We often look at our homes but don’t really take too much notice of the detail. After all, we see it every day. We sit on the same sofa that looks a little faded now, next to a coffee table that could do with a lick of paint. We don’t take notice of what we have because it’s always there. Sometimes all it takes is a little inspiration from the world around us to spark a renewed desire to make our home feel and look a different way. It doesn’t have to be anything major but revitalising a space enables you to fall in love all over again with your home.

  1. Why not fill an empty space with a new piece of artwork?

Art can really lift any space in your home. When selecting a piece of artwork consider what colours are present both in the piece and in the space where it will be. Decide if you want the artwork to complement or provide a contrast to the area. Both will work well but just consider the look and feel you want to produce within the space. Keep in mind the mood and colour scheme of the artwork in relation to the space and allow for a cohesive flow throughout.

2. A new rug

A new rug can be a game changer. It allows for a completely new look. Never under-estamate the power of a rug! When choosing a rug make sure the length is big enough for the space and always make sure there is enough of the rug to tuck under the legs of a main sofa. A rug is perfect for any room that feels empty. It adds texture, warmth and can provide cohesion to an eclectic range of furniture.

3. A stunning table runner

Sometimes even the smallest detail can change a space entirely. Table runners are perfect for pulling in the elements of a room and providing a focus point for your dining room. Having a table runner also enhances any meal that you share with family and friends.

4. Add more of you!

It’s your space so liven it up with things that make you happy. It could be as simple as picking decor that’s in your favourite colour or adding little trinkets that mean something to you. Even consider finding things that remind you of special moments in your life. It doesn’t have to be too literal but anything that puts a smile on your face will do. It will allow you to walk into your house and forget about the worries of the day.

5. Or slap on a fresh coat of paint to an area that needs it!

We often can look at the same space within our house and wonder what it would look like to add a bold and edgy splash of colour to liven up the place but often feel too scared to give it a go. A good place to try this out is a child’s room. So pick a feature wall or even paint a set of cupboards. And unleash your creativity!
